Alfred Sisley - Wiesen von Veneux-Nadon (1881)
The slender, delicately leafed poplar trees guide the gaze into the depth of the image and anchor it amidst the expanse of the summery landscape. Through shimmering color patches, Alfred Sisley imparted an iridescent vibrancy and tension to the seemingly monotonous motif. Sisley displayed this painting at the seventh joint exhibition of the Impressionists in 1882, where the group distinguished themselves with their landscapes.
