In cool colors, Alfred Sisley has captured the impression of a late autumn evening here. The simple landscape of the area near Paris was characterized by vegetable gardens. Sisley, who lived there from 1870 to 1874, experimented with a dynamic, impressionistic brushwork on these incidental subjects.
