Hubert Robert - Landschaft mit römischer Tempelruine (1773)

Hubert Robert was a French painter and designer known for his work in the Rococo style. He was born in 1733 and trained as an artist in Paris. Robert's works often featured ruins and landscapes, and he was particularly known for his depictions of classical ruins. "Landschaft mit römischer Tempelruine" or "Landscape with Roman Temple Ruin" is a perfect example of Robert's work. The painting depicts a crumbling Roman temple in a beautiful landscape. The lush greenery and blue sky provide a striking contrast to the ruin in the foreground. The painting was completed in 1773 and is now held in the Louvre in Paris.

In addition to his work as a painter, Robert was also a designer and decorator, and he worked on several high-profile projects, including the decoration of the Château de Fontainebleau. His work was popular with the aristocracy and he received many commissions from members of the French royal family. Robert was also involved in the creation of the Louvre Museum, and he designed several of the galleries and rooms in the museum.
